NARCISSE , INSPIRED BY LEON BAKST

NARCISSE
Exuberant and Bright Stole / Shawl

Piece Unique

This stole is inspired by this Leon Bakst's drawing ,
from 1911 , for the ballet "Narcisse" ( Les Ballets Russes de Serge Diaghilev )

The yellow base fabric is a sari very " Bollywood Style " with very shiny gold embroidery , gold sequins , blue lagoon plastic rhinestones .
I "broke" this kitschy appearance with my rustic wool embroideries.
I worked with wonderful tassels in rayon , pink and orange .

I worked with wonderful tassels in rayon , pink and orange .
Vintage coins from Afghanistan / Pakistan.
Long black wool threads for the fringes.

Lined with a warm and soft fabric in mohair wool , color dark chocolate.

Certain kitschy embroideries disappear under green silk organza appliqués , a sort of vegetal patterns , cut in another sari and sewn / embroidered with wool .

The gold embroideries are "break" with wool threads around and on them .

The stole is textured with wool threads quilting .

To create this sort of stole , it takes 40 hours labor .
