Work on a 1950s silk velvet Japanese Michiyuki jacket.
Piece Unique

// Sold Out //

It seems the Michiyuki in velvet appear in Japan in the 1930s , certain models with some Western influence in details , as buttons with buttonholes , collar , neckline . Many of them were made in West Germany .
Japan was the first world exporter of silk threads , who were used to create fabrics .
Japan creates the most beautiful silk fabrics in the world.
Why these jackets were made in West Germany , for the Japanese market ? I don't find the answer .
But I think it was because Japan didn't produce velvet , as in the Western countries.

This Michiyuki is in a deep crimson red silk , very soft .

It is adorned with 5 birds and 1 flower .

After I drew them , I choose a vintage Indian silk printed and sequined and I cut them in it .

I embroiderer them , with Indian cotton threads all around.
I made my rustic wool embroideries , using a bright color palette

Green turquoise , blue peacock , fuchsia , orange , red purple , deep purple .
The 6 elements are with the same color palette , to create something uniform , for the harmony .
I hand sewn them on the jacket .

The jacket is lined with a red silk .
Very red ...... :)

On the right , an inner pocket with a decorative pleated edge .
Closed by 2 inner snap fasteners and 2 red ribbons.
A big ornamental button covered with velvet .
The neckline is a shawl collar .

Why all these birds are flying from the back to the front ?
To try to be the first to catch the sparkling flower !
This flower is a brooch , also from the fifties , made in Czechoslovakia , where we find the most beautiful crystals .

Colors and Light may vary depending your screen.
Sometimes marking , irregularities or imperfect embroideries / colors , condition maybe apparent .
This should not be considered as imperfection and are the characteristic of vintage materials and craft method of dyeing.
It can happen , on the vintage Japanese jackets , to have a little smell of mothballs when you open the parcel, or when you iron it with steam, but it will disappear when aired.
